A companion piece to the delightful Farewell, Home Sweet Home , this taciturn and droll comedy of modern manners turns the lens on a factory worker who is fed up with the monotony of his life. Leaving the factory and his family without warning, he sets off to see the world, starting with a trip to Venice, on a voyage full of strange encounters with bizarre characters and surreal moments. Evoking Tati’s fascination with the soullessness of repetition and drudgery of modern living, Iosseliani’s playful obsession with everyday events makes his hero’s breakaway trip of self-discovery all the more exceptional.
