Short Films

A deceptively simple but charming tale of a young monk’s life in two days, Pema Tseden’s first short film offers early glimpses at his exquisitely tranquil and deeply humanistic style. The Silent Manistone was later developed into his first feature, The Silent Holy Stones. His graduation film,The Grassland , rides on a journey of an old nomadic couple in search of the thief of her liberated yak. This allegory of crime and redemption is further explored in Old Dog, where the humans and animals continue to struggle to eke out an existence.
